Sudbury East Building and By-law Services to Assume Sewage and Septic System Services

Effective November 1, 2026, Sudbury East Building and By-law Services (SEBBS) will assume responsibility for the administration, application, review, approval and inspection of sewage and septic system services within the Sudbury East municipalities of:

  • •Municipality of French River

  • •Municipality of Killarney

  • •Municipality of Markstay-Warren

  • •Municipality of St.-Charles

This transition is being implemented through changes to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) and will provide a centralized service for septic applications and approvals across the four municipalities.

What This Means for Residents and Property Owners

Beginning November 1, 2026, all septic system applications, septic-related searches, and inquiries for properties located within the municipalities of French River, Killarney, Markstay-Warren and St.-Charles should be directed to Sudbury East Building and By-law Services.

Residents, property owners, contractors, and designers are encouraged to contact SEBBS directly for information regarding septic applications, approvals, requirements, inspections and septic records or searches.

SEBBS staff will be available to assist with questions regarding the septic application process and applicable requirements. We look forward to providing consistent and accessible septic services throughout the four municipalities.

We thank residents, property owners, contractors, and designers for their cooperation and understanding during this transition.
